AHere, everyone is...grouped around
the programs of this season:
* At the left you see first the cake with on it ' Wenen
Praag,' thus Vienna Prague, a Renaissance program we sing with Paul Van Nevel in
February/March next. Vienna and Prague are depicted by the huge cake. The repertoire
consists of music by De Kerle a.o.
* Behind the cake you see an umbrella: this is for our
Bacharach program in January: Raindrops are falling on my head, etc. This will be a full
evening show with the best of Bacharach arranged for choir.
* Then, one step more to the right, next to the music
stand, one of the ladies is carrying the horn of an old gramophone: that was used by Percy
Grainger to record folk tunes in the country side.
* The oranges and the can with olive oil point at our
program Under the olive tree in February next, with music by Spanish and Portuguese
composers and a new Dutch piece called Entre y hombre e y olivo.
* The huge lamp and the black flower next are part of the
program called Nacht, with indeed night songs by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms, to be sung
in April.
* The Holy Virgin in the cage is part of our program now,
Virgo Maria, with new compositions by Tavener and MacMillan combined with Renaissance
Marian songs by Cornysh, Gombert and Obrecht. We found the combination of the Holy Virgin
and the parrot cage in a catholic (!) antique shop...
* And, finally, the carriage is the symbol of our Christmas
program, A child is born...., with 5 centuries of Christmas songs conducted by Paul Van
Nevel, which program has been recorded and the disc will be released end of November next.
These explanations may give you an idea about our plan behind the picture. It gives a
much lighter impression of the choir.
